The Campanile
October 2023 – Burano, Venice, Italy
This photograph, taken in Burano — the colorful island of the Venetian lagoon — is part of the Colors of Burano series. In this work, Sebastien Desnoulez composes an image where visual balance echoes the uncertain architectural balance of the place.
The leaning campanile of San Martino Church becomes the central axis of a peaceful scene: a canal lined with multicolored façades, the golden light of late afternoon, a few moored boats, and passersby crossing a softly curved bridge.
The composition blends framing precision with the spontaneity of real life. The viewer’s eye wanders, guided by the waterline, the texture of the walls, the reflections, and the cast shadows.

Pigment inkjet print on Fine Art paper, supplied with Hahnemühle certificate of authenticity.
The print is laminated onto a 2 mm Dibond sheet and mounted in the floating frame to give it visual depth.
The Fine Art print is placed on neutral cardboard, then covered with a 7 cm beveled white mat and anti-reflective, UV-resistant museum glass, before being framed in black aluminum or wood (black, white, oak or wenge).
