1989 – U Bein Bridge, Taungthaman Lake, Burma
This black-and-white reworkedwith a custom filter to evoke the delicacy of an engraving or drawing, captures a timeless moment on the U Bein Bridge, the longest teak bridge in the world. Spanning 1.2 kilometers over Lake Taungthaman, this historic bridge, built in 1849, is rendered here in Chinese shadow, transforming the scene into a composition of striking simplicity and beauty. At the center of the work, a monk crosses the bridge, sheltering under an umbrella. The black silhouette of the monk, with his umbrella, stands out clearly, creating a powerful, evocative contrast. The bridge’s teak pillars, standing like faithful sentinels, follow one another in a regular line, their dark shapes standing out against the diffuse clarity of the sky. This play of light and shadow gives the impression of an etching, in which each element is simplified to retain only the essential. In the foreground, a leafless branch, powerful and twisted, stretches across the scene, adding a touch of magic to the image. Its sinuous contours, rendered in deep black, contrast with the white background, creating a juxtaposition between the robustness of nature and the delicacy of the human figure. The branch, almost mystical in form, subtly frames the scene, guiding the viewer’s gaze towards the monk and the bridge. The scene is imbued with a contemplative, almost meditative atmosphere, where the monk ‘s silent movement contrasts with the imposing immobility of the bridge.
The different types of frames and finishes available
The print comes with its certificate of authenticity and a Hahnemühle hologram affixed to the back.
The framing is left to your discretion.
The floating frame, sleek and modern, is one of the preferred framing choices for contemporary art galleries and museums.
The floating frame perfectly enhances your photographic print.
The spacing between the frame and the image creates a floating effect and highlights the image, making it an ideal art frame to maximize the depth and elegance of the artworks in our collection.
The print is mounted on a 2 mm Dibond panel and placed in the frame.
The depth of the floating frame is 4 cm, and the gap between the photograph and the inner edges of the frame is 0.8 cm for black or white finishes and 1 cm for wood finishes (Oak, Wenge, etc.). This arrangement creates a visually pleasing “floating” effect. Finally, a hanging system is attached to the back of the frame for a quick, easy, and secure installation.
This classic framing combines timeless elegance and sophistication, offering a sublime presentation for your most precious artworks and photographs. A wooden or aluminum frame, chosen for its simplicity and nobility, adds a touch of authenticity and refinement to your piece.
The mat, an essential element of this ensemble, enhances the artwork by creating a visual space around it. It highlights the details and nuances while adding extra depth. Carefully selected, it perfectly complements the artwork without overwhelming it, allowing every detail to stand out.
Finally, the museum glass, of exceptional quality, provides optimal protection against harmful elements such as dust, humidity, and UV rays. With its unmatched clarity and anti-reflective properties, it ensures perfect visibility from every angle, allowing your artwork to shine without distractions.
This harmonious ensemble transforms each piece into a masterpiece, ready to be admired and preserved for generations to come. Investing in a classic frame means choosing to enhance and protect what you cherish with unparalleled distinction.
